Did manage to see 2 Brown Hairstreaks today, photographed one, not that you would know it was one mind!!!!! A friend of mine calls these washed out butterflies 'dishcloths', you can see why! We did manage a few other butterflies, but still didn't get the pix i wanted.

Purple Hairstreak
A trip to Alners Gorse, Dorset, for Hairstreaks today. Sadly we got there just too late, as the hedge where they are, was just going into shade. We did manage to see Purple & White-letter Hairstreaks, but only the Purple came down for photos!! Also found a little colony of Long-winged Coneheads (Crickets for those who don't know).

A short(ish) drive and we arrived at Fontmell Down. Main targets, Adonis Blue (again) & Silver-spotted Skipper. Not been here before, so a short wander, and a phone call, put me in the right area. Within no time the Skippers were seen. Then Clouded Yellow, Chalkhill Blue, Adonis Blue, Common Blue, Brown Argus, Peacock, Red Admiral & Small Tortoiseshell, not bad at all!!!

   Chew and Priddy today.

Sadly not much happening at Chew, has been rather quiet recently. The now resident pair of Egyptian Geese have raised a family, 5 youngsters in all.

Egyptian Goose (Juveniles)

We did get a Black Arches and 2 or 3 Oak Bush Crickets, at No.2 Picnic Site.
